It’s A Give-Away!

I have seen many other bloggers do Give-Aways. I wanted to take part in spreading this joy as well. I just love giving presents!!!! Anyway, I waited until the time was right. So when my blog hit around 50 followers, I thought NOW is the time! Here’s the scoop as to why and what I chose.

Summer here in Cape Cod has been lovely, the last few days we have been spared the humidity. Such a gift. During those hot and humid days I would do a little shopping to stay out of the heat. I discovered the best soap made right here in Cape Cod. I enjoy supporting local businesses, so I purchased a few bars. Well, I fell in love! The soap is made by Summer House and they come in a large variety of scents created from natural items found here in the Cape! I went back to the store and I chose 2 of these soaps as part of my Give-Away, Ocean Scrub and Summer Hydrangea. The Ocean Scrub is awesome, its minty scent wakes you up and its salty texture sloughs off dead skin! It’s great! Cape Cod is covered with hydrangeas, so it is only fitting that this lightly scented soap be part of my Give-Away!

With these 2 soaps as my inspiration I sewed one of my Gosh Golly Goods cosmetic bags to reflect the colors that I think of when I think of Cape Cod. It has a zip top and an inside pocketed panel.

I picked up several yards of Liesl Gibson’s fabrics (Lisette) from Joann Fabrics to create this. Great colors for the Cape.

Back of the cosmetic bag.

Interior view of bag with the pocketed panel for brushes, mascara, long lipsticks and so on. (Brushes are not part of the give-away)

So to enter for the Give-Away, all I need you to do is comment on this entry in my blog. Tell me what item of clothing is your “goto piece”. Something that you feel never lets you down. You know, that thing you can put on when you are feeling you are having a “fat” day and nothing looks good. I would say that for me, right now, it would be my black jersey v-neck dress. I can dress it up or down and I can hide my belly in it when I am feeling a little chubbier than normal. Comments must be received by Sunday, August 5th at Midnight.

Winners will be announced Monday August 6th. If you are one of my international visitors, you are also eligible!

When you comment please make sure that I have a way of contacting you either through your blog or an e-mail.

Thanks and Good Luck!

  1. Love reading your posts. The soaps sound lovely – and bag mirrors the items well. My go-to clothing item…currently it is my white cotton summer dress. Knee length. A dress I picked up two years ago while vacationing in Ludington, Michigan. Though it’s white, the cut is such that it fits snugly on top and loose from the bust down. I love it on these hot, humid days.

    • Hi there Kate! Your dress sounds amazing, it is so wonderful to have a garment you can always depend on and feel comfortable in as well as stylish, eh? Are you heading to the Sewing Summit this year? Hope to see you there!

  2. Hmmm – my go to clothing piece? I think right now it would be denim pencil skirt. I love that and wear it all the time. I can’t really hide the belly when I’m wearing it, but I do stand taller. I love that polka dot fabric. g

  3. Ah yes, my blue and white cotton shirt tunic thing. The v neck is rather revealing so I wear a white tank under and I am happy 🙂

  4. My ‘go to’ clothes would be my jeans! I wear them almost all the time and I love that you can either dress them up or down!
Thanks for a great giveaway! I love the colours you’ve used in the bag!

    • Jeans, nice! For me, I have a Love/Hate relationship with jeans. When I am feeling thin, LOVE THEM- not so much when I am feeling the other way! 😦 thanks for entering!

    • Iam going to have to look into what A Muji Tunic Blouse is. I am a fan of tunics though. Is this something you have sewn? Good luck on the giveaway!

  5. My go to clothing piece are my undershirts. If I’m feeling lazy (and not going out in public) they can be my only shirt or they keep me feeling cool under my thin top shirts (what is with t-shirts being so thin!).

    • Yup! I get it! I do wear a lot of tank tops also under most of my shirts. A great layering piece! Thanks for coming by and visiting! Good luck!

  6. My go to piece would be my black work pants. They go with everything and they are very confortable.

  7. I have an old orange t-shirt and sleep pants, They say alot about me and what I DO, there is paint, food stains, burns, cuts on them. But a must when I say to myself, enough, RELAX.. I wish I could say Yoga pants, Right, they wouldnt be fat clothes then.. LOL

    • So funny! I have one particular t-shirt that I have painted in several times, and it shows how my taste in wall paint has changed over the years. It is really a neat thing though that you can see where you have been and what you have been up to by looking at your favorite comfys- right?!

  8. I made a skirt and jacket from Art Gallery fabrics last year. They are so soft and comfy that I love to wear them.

    • Hi Pam! We always want what we don’t have, huh?! I would love to have long legs, got some short gams myself- but I could see how if you had the long legs- pants might be a problem! Thanks for stopping by!

  9. for summer i have a black knit v-neck dress that i love – it just skims, doesn’t hug and has a long belt i can wrap a few times which makes me feel like i have a waist! i also love a tunic with leggings.
your summer sounds lovely! congratulations on all of your followers 🙂

  10. I have two Ann Taylor skirts and a black v-neck shirt that are my standards for days I am not feeling good about myself. Paired with an embellished cardigan, I’m good to go.

  11. I have a pair of black dress pants that I get alot of wear out of that go with everything! awolk at rogers dot com

  12. Oh my. My stand by items have to be some t-shirt dresses that I have about worn out this summer. Pants are just too fitted most days.

  13. I really love my black leggings, I always wear them and I feel like in a glove!
    they’re perfect with a t-shirt and with a nicer shirt too =)
thank you so much for this lovely giveaway, my cousins in law love to come to Cape Cod, I’d like once to go there, maybe next time I’ll in America (I am Italian)

    • You should make the trip here! I am sure you would really like it! It is so much fun reading everyone’s responses. Thanks for stopping by.

  14. I LOVE that bag!! And the soaps sounds positively heavenly. Thanks for the giveaway! My go-to pieces change a lot, mostly depending on how big I am at the moment (Right now I’m pretty hefty! Or, we’ll call it “curvy”!). I have a snaky-print pencil skirt from Target that is comfortable, has pockets (both great for TONS of business travel), and makes me feel taller and thinner and gorgeous and smart! I also like to throw on a beautiful scarf – always makes me feel more “hip” or something.

    • Curvy is the best way to put it- I agree. Why are we all so hard on ourselves? I had a good health scare last year, you think that would shake me up a bit to say “I am happy with my healthy body”- wouldn’t you? Anyway, I love your choice and standing tall always helps! Have a wonderful day gal!

  15. My summer go-to outfit is my paisley maxi dress. I feel comfortable in it and it’s a very versatile piece. I can wear it almost anywhere so I grab it when nothing else feels right.

  16. I LOVE the bag, a lot! What an awesome giveaway. I’m a new follower and look forward to reading. Hmm. I guess I have a go-to shirt when I feel extra chubby. It’s teal/blackish paisley swirls and has really soft, thin fabric, and I picked it up from Target. Nothing too special, but it’s comfortable and not clingy. Thanks for the chance to win

    • Well welcome to my crazy world! The water is fine here- step on in! Your target purchase sounds great- I love target, plenty of times I have purchased some of my favorites from there! Good luck on the drawing!

  17. I have a pair of slightly stretchy dark blue jeans that are so comfy that I could live in them. And anything goes with them. If only I could find another pair or two… 🙂

    • Maybe you will have the “copy” that favorite pair of jeans and sew them? I understand there are some pretty good on-line tutorials for that! Thanks for coming by!

  18. Hi Tracey, I am having to get Tim to respond to this and leave comment for me, as…
    1. I dont have a blog or anything ‘internetty’…and
    2. my hands are very bad lately and I cannot type…so I am using my secretary! 🙂
My “go to” piece is also a black jersey dress, round neck, long sleeve which I can just throw on and feel comfy in, I usually wear as a top over jeans as it is a little short. The best thing is I got it on sale last year for $10.00! 🙂 🙂
By the way the give away item is really beautiful, you are really clever.
    Lx

  19. Love your blog, just found you:) I really don’t have a goto piece except for in the summer – black cotton capris and pink knit top – easy wear.

    Thank you

  20. My go to piece is my black, stretch capri length legging type pants. Any kind of top looks great over it and a pair of cute sandals dress them up. Love your choices for the giveaway. The soaps sound heavenly.

  21. My go-to clothing is my skirt with the yoga waistband. It’s so comfy and stretches to fit. Love your handmade bag with all the great pockets!

  22. Hi! I would say my navy and white dress. It’s made of strechy fabric and it very comfortable! I also love polo shirts! Love the bag you made! It reminds me of Cape May! We went there on an anniversary trip! Thanks for this great giveaway!!!

  23. In the summer, my go-to piece of clothing are my denim capris – long enough to cover the thighs, but still short enough so I don’t get too warm. I’ve had them forever, they’re really faded and soft.

  24. Mine would have to be a black peasant shirt with white polka dots. It’s so comfy but yet looks a bit dressy.
